West Wilson Middle School Warriors Logo/Mascot Design
Background:
West Wilson Middle School has changed its name from the Wildcats to the Warriors. That change requires a new logo and mascot. The Warrior is a hard thing to depict and symbolize 1) because every culture has warriors and being very sensitive to not alienate or stereotype any culture makes for a challenging act, like we have seen in the NFL in the recent years and 2) trying to create something that is not too aggressive and can represent the Arts, Athletics, & all Academic pursuits and clubs also 3) trying to create something that is gender-neutral and all-encompassing.
Option #1 — Trident
The above mark is based on the Greek/Roman Trident, used by warriors and gladiators alike. I referenced the greek and roman warriors because of the alignment and influence that the Greek schools and philosophy have on western education and thoughts around education. Athens was also known as a hub for all intellectuals. Nashville has been called the "Athens of the South" because we have more colleges than any other state in the US. The shape of the trident has also been modified to resemble a capital "W" to represent West Wilson Warriors.

Option #2 — Spartan Helmet
This option is in keeping with the Greek Warrior theme. It uses a Spartan-like helmet to symbolize the Warrior.

CONCEPT #3 — Shield
The Shield design actually encompasses three W in the shield mark itself. The W stands for West Wilson Warriors.
